Lisa Leslie
A Former professional
basketball player, the first WNBA player to win regular season MVP, and a member
of the gold winning Olympic team. Mrs. Leslie is currently an owner of the
Sparks team where she shares her knowledge and skills about the game to others through
her Lisa Leslie Basketball & Leadership Academy (Leslie, 2013). She is the
spokesperson for the National Alliance of Breast Cancer and Covidien, a
healthcare company (Pace, 2010). She became the spokesperson for the National
Alliance of Breast Cancer after attending a breast cancer awareness seminar with her
mom who later found a lump in her breast which was later found out to be benign
(Pace, 2010). Mrs. Leslie wanted to become an advocate for breast health awareness,
especially since African Americans are affected at a higher rate, because
she wanted to reach people to make them aware of this disease (Pace, 2010). I
consider her an inspirational women because she continues even after retirement
to inspire people to be leaders along with staying fit and healthy. She also invests
her time in charitable causes bringing awareness and helping to encourage people of all walks of life, lastly she is a full-time
mother and wife with all of these things she is doing for the community this spells amazing in my book and I wanted to share
her experiences on my blog for everyone to see.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this post. I have played basketball my whole life, and Lisa Leslie is my all time favorite Women's basketball player. She is a very inspirational women. She is an excellent basketball play, who shows class and character on and off the court. She is a leader, and she wants to make a difference in the lives of others. She is also a full-time mother and wife, and like you said to be able to do everything she does and still reach out to the community and impact the lives of so many people is amazing and absolutely inspirational. Thank you for a great post.

ReplyDeleteAll semester I have followed your blogs and I love the things you post about. I am not really a big sports fan but I know exactly who Lisa Leslie is and I was not aware that she is giving back to the community in so many ways.It is always good to hear when women give back to the community and help others. She is a great inspiration and I thank you for teaching me about her and her life. We all have a legacy to leave behind while we are here on earth and hers is a great inspiration and many can learn from her.

I personally have never heard of her. She sounds like a really inspirational woman. She is doing many things to better our community and the wellness of those around her.
